CIRCUIT 5

Le circuit de la Pissoire

Departure: Bouvacôte car park

Leave your car in the small car park at the crossroads. Go up the Haut-du-Tôt road then turn right towards the place called "sous la Roche". Along the road you will have superb views of the Cleurie valley.

1. Take the Lombarde path and go straight down towards the forest.

2. Take the path that takes the left of the road, in the bend just before the last house. Cross the log bridge that spans the Froide-Fontaine stream, it was built in 2001 by the Tourist Office for your convenience, and go back up the entire path to the forest road where you will turn right. You will walk between the majestic spruce and fir trees. By the way, can you tell them apart?

3. Just a little more effort and you're at the Pissoire waterfall. It's worth the trip, isn't it? Take the time to walk around it and sit down to listen to the song of the water and the forest. A little peculiarity to point out: it's the Blancfaing stream that feeds the waterfall, but after it, it takes the name of the Pissoire stream. Who knows why!

4. Retrace your steps and just before the waterfall site, take the path on your right that climbs into the forest. The climb is steep but not too long, you will quickly arrive at the path that leads you to Haut du Tôt. This is the highest parish in the Vosges, which, in its rural house, organizes interesting exhibitions every summer. Keep to your left and take the path that climbs near the agricultural building, then again to the left go along the cow pens, perhaps you will see some beautiful Vosgiennes (the bovine breed, of course, we would never allow ourselves to pass judgment on the young ladies of Haut du Tôt). Soon, the path enters the woods again. All you have to do is go down to the bridge over the Froidefontaine stream, which you cross and you are back in the Bambois de Bouvacôte. Another kilometer and you arrive again in the meadows.

5. Don't miss the right fork, go up the path that takes you past the old oil mill that was used to press linseed and walnut oil. A right fork and immediately after that left and soon you will join the tarmac road to Bouvacôte again. All you have to do now is go down to your starting point.
